The ViewBelfast Review
One of the most popular clubs in Belfast, the M Club is set in a busy, lively and buzzing area surrounded by pubs, clubs and restaurants. It is easy to find due to its central location and it always attracts a crowd.
The Venue
Take a stroll up the buzzing and lively Shaftsbury Square at night time and it is guaranteed the M Club will not escape your attention. Its huge, brightly coloured flashing walls demand to be noticed and are alluring to anyone in search of a night out on the tiles.
Regardless of what night of the week it is you visit this club you can rest assured there will be a large queue of people waiting to get in. The atmosphere of this area is similar to that you would find while on holiday; with many bars, clubs and eateries along the way.
The interior does not disappoint and M Club's layout is extremely modern and exciting with a central dancefloor, two bars, comfortable seating and excellent lighting. Due to the popularity of this bar, particularly on student nights, you can expect queues both to get into the club and for bar service.
The toilets are particularly appealing, with motion-detecting sinks and toilet flushers, mirrored walls both in the waiting area and in the cubicles and toilet doors decorated with famous pin ups such as Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and Beyonce.
The People
The bouncers are usually fair, however, sometimes they can get on their high horse and turn seemingly sober people away for being “way too drunk”. So long as you are equipped with some form of identification and are reasonably well dressed you shouldn't have a problem.
There is always a good vibe in the place and depending on what night you visit the club the clientele can range from students during the week to an older crowd for Groovy Train on a Friday and locals on a Saturday.
The bar staff are friendly and lively and actually seem to enjoy their job and you can often find promotion workers wandering around the place selling shots, which saves queuing at the bar.
The Music
The music varies in this club depending on what night of the week it is. On Tuesday and Thursday there is a mix of dance, RnB and chart music with Thursdays supported by Cool FM. Friday is Groovy Train and one of the most popular nights.
If you visit on a Friday you can expect to find afros, platforms and bell bottoms as well as an excellent mix of 70’s music and some very talented DJs and performers. Saturday night is commercial dance and always busy with an excellent atmosphere.
The Drink
You can expect to find all of the usual drinks available at M Club and just like the music, prices vary depending on what night you visit.
Tuesdays and Thursdays are student nights with door tax at a mere £3 on Tuesday and all drinks for only £1 excluding cocktails wine and soft drinks and £2 on Thursday.
On a Friday night you can expect to pay £6 admission and £8 on a Saturday with regular drink prices such as £10 - £12 for wine and £3 for alcopops.
The Last Word
All in all this is an excellent, vibrant and lively club with a good atmosphere, mixed clientele and music to suit almost anyone’s tastes.
