Went into the Crown recently with some friends who were visiting from Flanders and Holland. I hadn't been in the Crown for a long long time but before I walked in, I said to my friends that the service in the pub was typical of what you could expect in Northern Ireland, with waiter service from professional waiters and not students. Of course I was lying through my teeth - many places employ waitering staff who are completely clueless.
Anyway, the service was fantastic. At first we couldn't get a booth so we brought this to the attention of the barman who called a waitress over and told her to get us a booth immediately. We ordered soup and Irish stew and some Guinness. The stew was nice and the waitress brought one of us extra soup because he had had to wait longer.
Never disappointing - and you can always expect tip top service from a highly professional, well-dressed and well-mannered team.
The amount of people that go in here now on weekdays and weekends has increased over the years for the better. It always has a fab atmosphere and the decor is like something straight out of a western! "Do you feel lucky" if so head for Crowns its cracking!
