My husband and I have been to Gingeroot a few times now and the food has always been 1st class - very tasty
However on our last visit the restaurant was very busy - we were advised that our food could take up to 30 minutes - we decided to wait - 1 hour later we were still waiting for our food!!
When it eventually came it was great - but too long a wait.To add insult to injury a 10% service charge had been added to our bill - we were advised that a charge is added to all parties of 2 or more!!! WHAT????
The service was rubbish and we refused to pay the charge. The owner (rude, pompous guy)needless to say was unhappy and told us never to come back!!We haven't ventured there again.
Gingeroot is my favourite Indian restaurant in Belfast. The menu is wide and varied and the food is delicious. It's also a bit cheaper than a lot of the other Indian restaurants around. The staff are really friendly and are happy to let you sit there for hours chatting happily amongst yourselves. On our first trip there, they gave me and a friend a free drink because we were celebrating our birthdays, and on the second trip they recognised us from the first time. The decor is bright and airy but authentic at the same time. Well worth a try, I couldn't recommend it more!
