Excellent value for money with friendly and efficient service. Stumbled across this place on a short stay in Belfast and was surprised by how good the food was. Very tasty and the BYOB policy made it quite a cheap meal. It has a fairly basic fit out and is definitely not a fancy restaurant but it was perfect for having a chilled meal following a day of seeing the sights.
I have been to Tao on Dublin Road and Art college many times and always had a great meal, mixed seafood with ox and ho fun noodles was a winner, it always tasted fresh and felt like a healthy option! However, since my last visit, they have changed the menu, no sign of ho fun noodles! I ordered Pad Thai from the lunch menu at the Art College Restaurant, and was gutted, it was horrible! The food now is in keeping with the usual really greasy Chinese takeaway. The Pad Thai was pink in colour?? and mainly consisted of cheap noodles and cheap meat, there was no flavour and not a chili, vegetable or bean sprout in sight. It was very, cheap at £4.60 for the lunch deal, but you still expect something edible!! I expect a noodle bar to make better Pad Thai than I do at home! The staff and service as always was great (hence the one star), though I hate having to ask for chop sticks and had to ask for chilli oil just to eat some of it! Really disappointed that a great little noodle bar has lost all the freshness and flavour for the same old bland Chinese offering! At least there is still Thai-tanic!!
Had my first taste of udon noodles with braised beef. It was absolutely delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant was nicely laid out. The menu was huge. Everyone at my table was very impressed and we will all be coming back.
Food was ok, however some of the people who frequent bring the standard down.
Have to say I love this place, been loads of times with both large and small parties and have never had a bad meal!! Very reasonably priced too! Will definitely be going back :))
I've been here a few times and the food has been good. Plus girls aloud on the tv, you can't go wrong well except for the ginger one who stopped me giving 5 stars!
Great Food, great service, hidden treasure on the Dublin Road !
Greasy food and the basket that the prawn crackers came in was thick with grease and dust......they had a napkin partly covering it and was busy looking after my toddler so I didn't notice it until end of meal. If I had noticed it at beginning I would have walked out - disgusting! Been once before and saw poor hygiene practice but due to loads of Belfast city Council awards on their wall for best chef etc I gave it another go......Will not be back!!!!!!
Worst asian food I ever had in Belfast. Went there last week with a group of 8. The appies were over cooked tasted like rubber and tough enough to be used as ammo. Lack of the chef to defrost the food properly would explain that. The main courses we had, were spiced flat and kinda cold. In three dishes we had processed meat ( I guess it was ham, might have been rat as well) at this time we felt already disgusted and didn't have time to investigate any further. The service was alright for a place like this. It was kinda quite impressiv how the staff was cleaning/ mopping the floor next to us and quickly serving food later on without washing their hands. Haven't seen that for a while. The food for its quality is way overprized and should be around 3-5 pound not 6-9 pound for main entrees. There are better places in Belfast for less money...
